It all started in Bed-Stuy…
Somato’s journey began in a small Brooklyn apartment, where a tiny living space and expensive Pilates classes sent me to the drawing board. The idea was simple – to create a Pilates reformer that not only delivers a quality workout experience, but blends into a modern home.
Prototypes were crafted and tweaked, transforming traditional Pilates equipment into something more versatile and suitable for the home environment. As these early designs evolved, they started to resonate with people who wanted more access to Pilates beyond their group and private classes.
After three years of development we’re proud to bring you the Somato— a reformer that is compact, lightweight, and elegant. Where Pilates used to be a bi-weekly treat, it is now a daily fitness option!

A lifelong athlete and furniture designer turned entrepreneur, Hannah is taking the home fitness industry by storm. She started Somato when expensive classes prevented her from making Pilates a daily routine. Now she’s adding function to form to transform the way we exercise at home.
